The best answer would be – you should wear support hose or stockings whenever you can, except when you are sleeping. You may be thinking why should I wear “support” stockings or “support” pantyhose if I don’t even like to wear regular pantyhose? As that may be, if you like to wear pantyhose for a more finished and stylish appearance and/or if you care about the health of your legs stay with me and keep reading…
There are very good reasons for wearing support stockings or support pantyhose. It is a well-established fact that support hose are very beneficial for your leg wellness to improve blood circulation or simply to bring relief for achy, crampy, tired and fatigued feeling legs.
Curiously, women can take advantage of the health benefits of support hosiery much easier than men. Women enjoy an almost limitless freedom when it comes to dressing choices. They can wear support hosiery with pants, shorts, capris, dresses, skirts, tunics, sweaters or shirts to keep them comfortable through all seasons year round.
Men, on the other hand, are much more restricted when it comes to their wardrobe options. With current societal attitudes, most men can only wear support hose or stockings hidden under their long pants unless they want to be called weird or strange. Yet there is nothing weird about wearing support hose to feel more comfortable or trying to preserve the health of your legs.
Perhaps it is high time that men and women banish those established conventions that seem to have no basis other than public opinion. If men want to wear support pantyhose or tights to combat aching and tired legs or to improve blood circulation they should do it proudly with long or short pants as they please and without being subject to ridicule.
Once more men come to realize the health benefits of support hosiery, more of them will also find the courage to wear their support hose openly and in plain view. Over time this will hopefully help the cause that these leg saving support garments will be accepted as clothing items that can be worn equally by men and women.
Finally a Word of Caution:
Wearing support stockings or support pantyhose is never a cure all for your leg problems. Support hosiery can only help with the symptoms your legs exhibit but they do not address the underlying causes. If you have persistent symptoms of pain and discomfort in your legs, always make sure you discuss this with your physician first to explore what your options are.
